SUMMER FRENCH HORN WORKSHOP

News

WHO:        John Dressler
WHEN:     Sunday, June 13 - Tuesday, June 15, 2010
WHERE:   Murray State University, Doyle Fine Arts Building

 Dear Directors,

I hope you will encourage your French horn students to participate in this “first annual” workshop geared just for French horn players.  It will run concurrently with the Trumpet Workshop but will be separate except for the final concert.

I am inviting both middle- and high-school Horn students.  I am creating master classes at various levels of achievement, lecture demonstrations, group lessons, question/answer sessions, and the like.  All the students will have opportunities to participate in the final recital through solo, ensemble, or both kinds of performances.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Fundamental approaches to horn performance
  • Warm-up and practice sessions
  • Improving range and endurance
  • Listening skills
  • Solo and orchestra repertoire
  • Embouchure development
  • Horn ensemble experience

For more information, please contact me for flyers with the registration form in them.  Thank you for sharing this opportunity with all of your Horn students.
