Nominations are accepted from January 1st through March 31st.  The awards are announced by the end of April.  Each year the webmasters from the nominated sites along with staff members from kyband.com will be asked to select which sites should receive the Select Site Award.  Web sites nominated as Select Sites must comply with the 8 items listed on the Requirements Page before they will be considered for an award.  This is a recognition award.  This is not a competition.  Nominated websites are not compared directly to each other.  The number of award recipients each year will be determined by which sites the judging panel recommend to receive the award.  Judges will be looking at the items listed below when making their recommendations.

1. Overall content - Website provides useful information for the students, parents and visitors.  Content is appropriate for all visitors, including external links.
   
2. Overall appearance of the website.
   
3. Text is easy to read.
   
4. Site is easy to navigate.
   
5. Easy to identify the school that site is about.
   
6. Content above the fold. - How much information can you see without scrolling.
   
7. Use of calendars and or schedules.
   
8. How site looks at different resolutions and on different browsers.
 
 

Judges may also consider the following items when making final determination on site awards.

 
9. Site offers email group or discussion board for mass communication.
   
10. Site has few or no pop-ups or banners.
   
11. Length of URL - Web address easy to remember.
   
12. Site does not over use animated graphics.
   
13. Site does not use slang or abbreviations.

14. Number of pages - Amount of content.
   
15. Provides On-Off function if sound is used.
   
16. Provides skip function for intro pages.
